NATURAL MANGO
Mango is one of the world’s oldest and most beloved fruits, cultivated for over 4,000 years in tropical Asia. Native to India and Myanmar, Mangifera indica L. is known as the “king of fruits” for its sweetness, fragrance and golden colour.
In ancient Indian traditions, it symbolised love and prosperity, and its leaves were used to decorate temples during religious ceremonies.
The name “mango” comes from the Tamil mankay, later adapted by Portuguese sailors to manga when they brought the fruit from India to Africa and then to South America in the 16th century.
The mango tree can reach over 30 metres in height and live for more than a century. Its shiny, lance-shaped leaves host clusters of small yellow-pink flowers that develop into fleshy fruits with green, yellow or reddish skin. The pulp is soft, sweet and fragrant, surrounding a large flat seed.
Rich in vitamins and antioxidants, mango is perfect as a natural snack or to enrich yoghurt, granola and tropical desserts. Try it plain or combined with other dried fruit for a sweet and nourishing break.

Mango is now cultivated in all tropical and subtropical regions. The leading producers are India, Indonesia and China [FAOSTAT, 2023], which together represent over half of global production.
The most popular varieties include:
• Kent, sweet and fibre-free;
• Keitt, juicy and aromatic, ideal for both fresh consumption and drying;
• Tommy Atkins, with bright red-orange colour and firm texture;
• Ataulfo, from Mexico, with golden flesh and delicate aroma.
Econoce dried mango mainly comes from Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso, where the constant climate and slow sun-ripening process yield sweet, soft and fragrant fruits.

Store dried mango in a cool, dry place away from direct light, heat and humidity.
During winter it can be kept at room temperature, but in warmer months it is best refrigerated to maintain its softness and fragrance.
Glass is the ideal material as it is neutral and odourless, protecting the product from air and moisture. Coloured glass also helps preserve vitamins and natural pigments.
Use airtight containers to keep the fruit tender and aromatic over time.
